ZOOVECA® is an ectoparasiticide and anti-scab solution for bathing and spraying. It is indicated for the control of external parasitic infestations in sheep. Its active ingredient, diazinon, is an external antiparasitic from the organophosphate group, which acts by inhibiting the parasite’s acetylcholinesterase.
Diazinon is metabolized through hydrolysis of the phosphoric ester bond, either directly or after oxidation to the corresponding oxidized analog, diazoxon. The latter is more toxic but less stable than diazinon. This metabolism is slow in the parasite, maintaining its selective toxicity, while in mammals, due to faster metabolism, the toxicity is low. Diazinon is toxic to birds and cats.
The ectoparasiticide and anti-scab solution is active against: scabies, fleas, lice, ticks, sheep keds, flies, and their larvae.
Mode of use
The application of this ectoparasiticide and anti-scab solution is done topically, either by bathing or spraying.
Bathing: indicated for infestations by mites, fly larvae, ticks, lice, and Melophagus ovinus.
Prepare the bath with a solution of 16 ml of ZOOVECA® in 10 liters of water (250 mg diazinon/L of water). To replace the lost volume, prepare a solution of 50 ml of ZOOVECA® in 10 liters of water (750 mg diazinon/L of water).
Spraying: for infestations by fly larvae, ticks, lice, and Melophagus ovinus.
Spray with a solution of 40 ml of ZOOVECA® in 10 liters of water (equivalent to 600 mg diazinon/L of water).
In both cases, the emulsion should be prepared beforehand in a small amount of water, stirring and then diluting to volume.
